March is Colorectal, Kidney, and Multiple Myeloma Cancer Awareness Month

March 1, 2017 @ 12:01 am - March 31, 2017 @ 11:59 pm

March is Colorectal, Kidney, and Multiple Myeloma Cancer Awareness Month.

Colorectal cancer refers to cancers that occur in the large, lower intestine- the colon. Rectal cancer appears in the last few inches of the colon. Many start as small clusters known as polyps. Some polyps can become colon cancer. In February 2000, President Bill Clinton officially designated March as National Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

Kidney cancer starts in the kidneys. Your two kidneys sit one on either side of your lower spine, behind your internal organs. Kidney cancer happens when kidney cells grow out of control and form tumors.

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer affecting plasma blood cells and clusters in bone marrow. There, it interferes with production of healthy, antibody blood cells.
