SUMMARY:October is Breast and Liver Cancer Awarenesses Month
DESCRIPTION:October is Breast Cancer and Liver Cancer Awarenesses Month. \nBreast cancer is the second most common cancer in women after skin cancer. It can occur in men as well\, but this is very rare.\nThe most common form of it is ductal carcinoma. It begins in the cells of the thin duct tubes within the breast. It can; however\, also occur in the lobules and other parts of the breast as well. \nThe BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are mutated\, hereditary genes that can be responsible for higher risks of breast and ovarian cancers in women and breast\, pancreatic and prostate cancers in men. \nLiver cancer is has likely spread from other places in the body\, metastasizing from another location. However\, there is cancer that itself has begun in the liver first. This is known as primary liver cancer. It only accounts for about 2% of all liver cancer cases. \nLiver cancer is more likely to occur if you are a man\, smoke\, work with herbicides or other caustic chemicals\, are obese\, Asian American or a Pacific Islander\, have diabetes\, abuse anabolic steroids\, or have metabolic diseases or other rare diseases which facilitate liver cancer. Aflatoxins are rare molds that occur in wheat\, corn\, rice and peanuts and they can also cause liver cancer. \nPlease pay attention to your own body and take notice of any pain or changes in yourself and please visit your physician for routine check-ups.

SUMMARY:May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month \nMalignant Melanoma is a cancer that usually appears on the skin but can also rarely in other locations. Since they can develop from moles\, they should be checked if there is an increase in size\, change in their color\, fuzzy edges or if they become itchy. Pay attention to any spots\, ulcers and breaks in the skin you might get. Avoid UV radiation from sun and tanning beds. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen. \nSkin Cancers are by far the most common kind of cancers in the United States. They are diagnosed more than all other cancers combined. This not only refers to melanoma\, but other cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma\, merkel cell carcinoma\, skin lymphoma and kaposi sarcoma. Prevention and early detection are the best defenses against skin cancer. Protect yourself and your family from UV light. Inspect yourself with a mirror and notice any moles\, raised areas or discolorations you might have. Visit your doctor or a dermatologist with your concerns. \nThe ABCDE Rule is a handy guide for checking your skin.\nA stands for Asymmetry: if one side of a spot doesn’t match the other.B stands for Border: if it has a fuzzy or irregular edge to it.\nC stands for Color: if it is not the same color all over. It might be red\, white\, blue\, brown or black.\nD stands for Diameter: if the spot is wider than the tip of a pencil eraser\, about a quarter inch across.\nE stands for Evolving: if you notice it has changed in one of these ways since you last looked. \nPlease note that this is general awareness information and not a substitute for actual\, personal advice from a medical professional.\nYou should visit your physician for an individual evaluation.

SUMMARY:April is Esophageal\, Oral\, Head & Neck\, and Testicular Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:April is Esophageal\, Oral\, Head & Neck\, and Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. \nEsophageal cancer is in the tube connecting the throat and the stomach. It starts in the inner layers and moves outward. There are two main kinds- squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinomas which occurs mainly in the lower esophagus. There are risk factors for esophageal cancer and can be linked to tobacco\, alcohol\, diet or excess body weight. These account for 6% of all cancers in the United States according to the American Cancer Society. HPV (human papillomavirus) looks to be a cause of rising oral cancer rates in young people. Tobacco and alcohol are the leading causes of mouth and voice box cancers. Using both of them at the same time leads to a much greater than using each individually. Symptoms of oral cancer can include mouth sores that don’t heal\, sore throat\, red or white lumps or patches in your mouth\, trouble swallowing\, voice changes or a lump in your neck. People with constant nose bleeds\, or numbness\, swelling or pain around their cheeks and noses should be evaluated. \nTesticular cancer develops in one or both testicles primarily in younger men\, but can happen in older men. See your physician if you notice an enlarged testicle\, a lump\, swelling or pain. It can extend into other parts of the body such as pain in the lower abdomen\, lower back\, chest pain\, groin or in even your breasts from hormones. \nPlease note that this is general awareness information and not a substitute for actual\, personal advice from a medical professional.\nYou should visit your physician for an individual evaluation.

Discovering it can be tricky; however\, since it seldom produces symptoms and the gallbladder is small and sits tucked under the liver\, surrounded by larger organs.\n\n\n \n\n\nSome common symptoms of gallbladder cancer are stomach pain in the upper right part of the abdomen\, nausea\, jaundice\, lumps\, appetite loss\, weight loss\, fever\, itchiness\, dark urine and light stool.\n\n\n\nBile ducts are tiny\, thin tubes that carry digestive bile fluid from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine to aid in fat digestion. There are three different cancers that can affect the various parts of the ducts.\n\n\n \n\n\nBile duct cancers are thankfully rare but instances do increase with age. However\, due to it being a slow-growing cancer\, it is hard to detect unless it is late in the process when the ducts become clogged. They can be aggressive and hard to treat.\n\n\n \n\n\nBile duct cancers seldom present symptoms.\n\n\n \n\n\nPlease contact your physician if you have any questions or notice any changes in your body.

SUMMARY:January is Cervical and Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month. \nCervical cancer is caused by abnormal cells on the cervix start to grow uncontrollably. It can often be treated successfully when found very early\, often through a Pap test. Most is caused by strains of HPV\, the human papillomavirus. \nAlthough most abnormal cervical cells don’t present symptoms\, there might be abnormal bleeding\, pelvic pain\, pain during intercourse and abnormal discharge. Please visit your provider if you have any of these symptoms. \nThyroid cancer is an uncommon cancer that occurs; obviously\, in the thyroid gland- the butterfly-shaped organ at the front base of your neck. Changes in DNA and overexposure to radiation are believed to increase chances of thyroid cancer. \nThe most obvious symptom is a lump in your throat. Pain in your neck and possibly in your ears\, difficulty swallowing\, wheezing\, hoarseness and a frequent cough outside of illness are all possible symptoms. \nIt responds positively to treatment because it is often found early enough for care. Even after treatment\, it is still may come back years later. \nPlease visit your physician regularly for routine check-ups and if you notice any changes in your body.

SUMMARY:October is Breast and Liver Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:October is Breast Cancer and Liver Cancer Awareness Month. \nPay attention to your own body and take notice of any pain or changes in yourself and please visit your physician for routine check-ups.

SUMMARY:July is Sarcoma Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:July is Sarcoma Cancer Awareness Month \n\n\nSarcomas are cancers that are transformed cells of bone\, cartilage\, fat\, muscle nervous system and vascular tissue.\n\n\n \n\n\nThey are different than carcinomas which develop from the cells lining the surface of blood vessels and organs throughout the body.\n\n\n \n\n\nSarcomas are much rarer in comparison to carcinomas with roughly only 20\,000 cases worldwide diagnosed a year. This rarity; however\, often results in sarcomas being found after they have advanced.\n\n\n\n\nLearn more by visiting http://sarcomaalliance.org/.
